Lara grew up in Glenwood, Minnesota. She attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis graduating with a bachelor degree in Mortuary Science. She married her high school sweetheart, Mike Shea. They enjoyed working together for many years as funeral directors in their hometown of Glenwood. It was there that she first observed the need and discovered a passion assisting families following the funeral experience itself.
“Serving as a funeral director you realize the sacredness of being in the presence of those confronted with the death of someone they love. It is an honor to walk with families during such ‘marked moments’ of saying goodbye. But the journey continues following the service...after the flow of people slow down, calls and cards dwindle & silence hurts…that’s the continued path of support I am here to help with in any way I can. ”
Lara values her time with husband and four children. She also enjoys being active in their church, reading, biking and helping in whatever arena their children are involved in.
Ken was born in Berlin Germany to a kind and loving mother who survived the war and a father who met her as a young American GI during the Berlin airlift.
After graduating from White Bear Lake High he joined the US Air Force. Shortly afterwards he married his high school sweetheart, Lynn. Together they have two happily married sons with 4 grandchildren between them. Ken's background shows he is very active in the senior market earning the Certified Senior Adviser designation, and has helped individuals and families understand their long term care issues and the choices available to them including the preservation of their assets.
Upon the death of his father, Ken was responsible for making all the funeral arrangements. The experience working with the funeral director left an important impression in Ken’s mind of the importance of pre-arranging the individual’s final wishes. Since then he has assisted many people with their final expense needs through funding vehicles which assured that their last wishes would be achieved. Ken’s goal is to help others understand the pre-planning process and design a plan that reflects their life and allow the family to be free of the burden of making difficult decisions at that most painful time.
Ken is available to meet with individuals and families by appointment and can be reached by calling the funeral home.
