John McQuiston

August 5, 1927 — November 20, 2016

John McQuiston, age 89 of St. Paul Park, passed away Nov. 20, 2016 at United Hospital in St. Paul.

Funeral will be 11 am, Monday, December 5, 2016 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 920 Holley Ave., St. Paul Park, MN with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be in the Resurrection Cemetery.

John Joseph McQuiston was born August 5, 1927 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Joseph and Marjorie (Watson) McQuiston. He grew up in St. Paul and attended Cretin High School and graduated in 1945. He worked at Swift and the stock yards in South St. Paul and did some roofing before taking a position with the State of Minnesota in the Department of Agriculture. He served as a supervisor of livestock weighers throughout the State of Minnesota for many years until his retirement at the age of 84.

John enjoyed hunting, fishing and doing wood working projects in the basement. The family did a lot of camping and in his younger years he converted an old school bus into a camper to keep the whole crew together. John loved animals and through the years they raised airedale terriers, chickens, pheasants and rabbits.

He is survived by his wife Alice; 3 children, Linda Gorka, Tom McQuiston and Cynthia (Fernando) Fiarillo
5 step children, David (Vicki) Stringer, Debra (Douglas) Videen, Sheila Feesl, Cindy Wegmann, Kim Stringer; 17 grandchildren as well as several great-grandchildren.
