Laurence Barnes

Larry, known by many as the nicest man they had ever met, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 5, 2016.

Larry retired from 3M after 42 years of service. Upon retirement, he was a school bus driver for 8 years for a very special group of children.

Outside of work, Larry enjoyed traveling with Kathy, including amazing trips to Europe, as well as Orlando with his entire family. Larry also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, including helping to care for 102 foster and 73 daycare children. Larry looked forward to biking with his brother, Dick, each summer and also enjoyed participating in and coaching his kids in softball and hockey.

Preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Florence. Survived by his brother Richard (Jan); Kathleen, wife of 53 years; children Christie (Dan Macaulay), Lisa (Pat Wincentsen), and Patrick (Melissa); and 7 grandchildren Blake (Alex Gomez), Micah and Jace Macaulay, Luke Wincentsen, and Hannah and Sam.

Visitation to be held Thursday from 4pm-7pm at KOK Funeral Home, 7676 80th St S, Cottage Grove. Memorial service on Friday at 11AM at St. Rita's Catholic Church, 8694 80th St S, Cottage Grove. Interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Roseville. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be made to Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.
