Merikay Leslie

Merikay Leslie, age 69 of Cottage Grove, passed away unexpectedly on January 18, 2016.

Memorial service will be 11 am, Saturday, January 23, 2015 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th Street S. Cottage Grove with visitation one hour prior. Private interment will be held at Nora Cemetery, Rice Lake, Wisconsin at a later date.

Merikay was born September 22, 1946 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin to Thomas and Marvel (Johnson) Hein. She graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1964 with honors and went on to complete her education, also with honors at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Merikay was united in marriage to Donald Leslie in Rice Lake in 1969 and they lived in Green Bay and Eau Claire before moving to Cottage Grove in 1974. During her working career, she worked for the Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company the State of Minnesota as well as First Bank in St. Paul. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with Don and all of her loving family.

Merikay is survived by her son Jason (Briehan); granddaughter Lauren; sisters, Peg (John) Kromm, Clara (Bruce) Kuhne, Rose (Dave) Hobson; nephews, John Thomas and Chris Kromm, Thomas and Jordan Kuhne; niece Jessy Hobson as well as other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Donald.
