Beloved Wife, Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma.
Ouida Smestad, age 85, of Inver Grove Heights, formerly of Cottage Grove passed away peacefully on January 29, 2015. Preceded in death by husband, Dale; grandson, Eric Smestad; parents, Vern & Alva Hurley; and eight siblings. Survived by children, Scott (Lisa), Marcia (Roland) Lozier, and Eric (Shelly); grandchildren, Lacey Lozier, Sarah, Kyle, and Neil Smestad, Nicole (Alex) Miller, and Erin Smestad; and great-grandson, Bennett Miller. Married in 1950, Dale and Ouida lived in Minneapolis; Garden Grove, California; and Cottage Grove, Minnesota, where they happily raised their children. Retired from 3M, Ouida enjoyed many hobbies including creating and teaching ceramics, and was a two-time winner of the Peggy Award. She also enjoyed travel, making jewelry, quilting, and was a member of the Lakes African Violet Society of Minnesota.
Celebration of Life 11:30 AM, Saturday, March 14, 2015 at The Historic Afton House Inn, 3291 St. Croix Tr. S., Afton, MN 55001 with visitation beginning at 11 AM.
