Dawn Grass was born November 4, 1959 in Winona, Minnesota to Theodore and Margie (Stevens) Pervin. She grew up in St. Charles and Rochester and later moved to St. Paul where she graduated from Tartan High School in 1978. Earlier that year she started dating William “Bill” Grass and they were married on May 25, 1979. They lived in St. Paul for a short time until 1981 when they moved to Cottage Grove where they raised their 4 children. Dawn worked for the South Washington County School District for 31 years in a variety of positions including lunch and recess aide, school suspension monitor and finishing out her career as the “guardian of the gates” at East Ridge High School. She loved her job and the students and staff that she worked with.
As a family they traveled around to local car shows where they enjoyed time together and connecting with others. She loved bingo, camping, coloring, quilting and going to the casino. She enjoyed the Hallmark Channel and reading a good romance novel and watching a good romantic movie. She was crafty and spent time on ceramics, cross stitch and porcelain dolls. Dawn loved hosting and planning family events and sharing holiday meals together. More recently they spent time traveling to areas like Nevada, Alaska, Kansas and the Carolinas to name a few.
She always put others before her own interests and loved her family above all. Dawn’s family was her number one priority and loved her children and grandchildren dearly.
Dawn is survived by her husband Bill; four children Nicole (Al) Hicks, Jessica, Shane (significant other Amanda), Cassaundra (Nick) Jones; 8 grandchildren Matteo, Piper, Gabriel, Jersey, Wyatt, Everlynn, Susan and McKinley; mother Margie Buckley; four siblings Sue Lynch, John Pervin, Ted Pervin Jr. and Crystal Richard; many nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends and extended family. She is preceded in death by granddaughter Vaida Rose Grass; father Theodore Pervin Sr.
