Neville B. Strydom, age 58 of Cottage Grove, passed away unexpectedly on May 8, 2018.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 3:00 pm, Monday May 14, 2018 at St. Ambrose Church, 4125 Woodbury Drive in Woodbury with visitation one hour prior.
Neville Bruce Strydom was born April 26, 1960 in Durban, South Africa, to Petrus and Helen Strydom. He grew up in Johannesburg and was an avid rugby and cricket player and graduated from high school in 1977. He attended college in Johannesburg where he received a degree in electrical engineering. He started working in merchant banking as a computer programmer and later met Debra Coetzee through a mutual friend. They quickly became great friends and were later married on May 30, 1990 in Johannesburg. Neville and Debra moved to Cape Town where they lived for 7 years and raised their children. He moved the family to the United States in 1998 where he continued to work in the computer industry. They lived in California for a short time where he worked with the Universal Music Group, returning to Minnesota in 2016.
Neville was a die-hard Twins and Vikings fan and watching formula one racing. He enjoyed gardening, and working around the house on a variety of projects. His family was his pride and joy and he loved to make sure that everyone knew how much they meant to him. Last year Neville and Debra took a memorable trip to Germany and to top off they trip, they were able to give each other a big smootch under the Eifel Tower.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 28 years Debra; children Brett (Estine), Rowan (Ulrike), Nick (Rebecca), Heather and Cameron; grandchildren Stefan, Claire, Arabelle, Finley and Raphael. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Vaughan and his siblings Marie and Peter.
