Steve Ditzler, age 46, of Cottage Grove died unexpectedly on July 30, 2019.
Memorial gathering will be 4-7 pm, Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th Street S., Cottage Grove. Interment will be 10 am, Monday, August 5, 2019 at Resurrection Cemetery, 2101 Lexington Ave. S., Mendota Heights.
Steven Joseph Ditzler was born May 11, 1973 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Richard and Geraldine (Lardy) Ditzler. He grew up in Cottage Grove, graduating from Park High School in 1991 and went on to earn his Associates Degree from Dunwoody Institute in auto mechanics. Steve was the manager and DJ at the Rodeo Nightclub in Cottage Grove for many years. He was a competitive country dancer and participated in numerous competitions throughout the Midwest. Steve loved all kinds of music, but the “big hair bands” were his favorite! He was the shipping and receiving manager at the Home Depot in Woodbury for several years and most recently he was a crane operator for BNSF – ITS Technologies, a job he was proud of. He was united in marriage to the longtime love of his life, Karla Maldonado on June 20, 2015. Steve had a generous, kind heart who loved connecting with people and helping others who needed him. He will always be known as a nurturing person who had a love for animals and loved driving his Chevy.
Steve is survived by his wife Karla; four children Alisha Christian, Brittani Cortez, Madison and Jackson Nelson; siblings Dan Ditzler and Chris (Heather) Ditzler as well as several nieces and one nephew. He is preceded in death by his parents.
