James C. Jansen, age 86, a lifelong resident of Cottage Grove died peacefully on October 11, 2021.
James was born June 30, 1935 in St. Paul to Bernard and Agnes Jansen. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from high school in 1953. His lifelong passion was working the land and caring for his animals throughout his life. He met Helen Sandkamp in high school but didn’t start dating until several years after they graduated. They were married on July 3, 1965 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in St. Paul Park. They lived on the family farm where they enjoyed their lives and raised their four children.
Even in life’s difficult moments, he never complained and always had a positive outlook on life. Jim will always be remembered as a caring, kind, humble and generous man who loved his family. He will be missed dearly and will have some pretty large farm boots to fill.
He is preceded in death by his wife Helen; son Terry and parents Ben and Agnes. Jim is survived by children Joe (Donna), Carla (Brian), Pat (Deidre); grandchildren Alexandra, Erica, Kaitlin, Amelia, Noah; great-grandchild Charlotte.
