Lucille Severson (nee Hagen) passed away peacefully March 17, 2022, going home to the Lord and her beloved husband, Raymond. Lucille was born at home to Lawrence and Bella Hagen in Fertile, Minnesota, on October 11, 1923. She was raised in Fertile, graduating from Fertile High. She attended Business School in the Twin Cities and subsequently worked at Lysdale Aviation in South St. Paul where she met one of the pilots, her future husband Raymond. She said it “was love at first sight!” They married on Ground Hogs Day in 1951. They had a wonderful and full married life until Ray’s passing in August, 2004. They enjoyed seeing new sights, and travelled in their camper extensively throughout the US and Canada, as well as trips to Central America, South America, Japan, Hong kong and Norway.
Lucy and Ray had three children, John (Nancy), Dean (Jo), and Dr. Mary Anderson (Duane). Mom could often be heard to say: “I must have done something right. They turned out pretty good!” They were also blessed with six grandchildren, Andrew, Eric, Craig, Amy, Emily, and Ellen, and five great grandchildren. Lucy is also survived by four younger siblings, John Hagen, Arnold Hagen, Alice Knutson, and Monroe Hagen, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 11 am, Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 1583 Radio Drive, Woodbury, (Visitation is at 10 am) with private family interment following at Fort Snelling Cemetery along side Ray. In lieu of flowers, if you would wish to leave a memorial in honor of Lucy, the family suggests a charity of your choice.
