Patricia Katz

September 27, 1926 — January 26, 2021

Patricia Shirley (nee’ Carson) Katz, died Tuesday, January 26, 2021 in St Paul, Minnesota

Pat was born on September 27, 1926 to Lola (Moizo) Carson Halberg and Francis Lamb Carson.  Pat grew up in St. Paul Park exploring the river bottoms of Grey Cloud Island, cutting wood with her grandfather in Ravenna Township, and serving as a member of the Civil Air Patrol during WWII. She leapt at the chance to live a year in San Francisco with her aunt.

Pat married her school sweetheart Jerome F. Katz and they raised their six children at their home in St. Paul on the river bluff. Buying a cabin in northern Minnesota sight unseen, the family stumbled into many sunny adventures on the lake.

Following the death of her husband, Pat traveled with friends to Greece, Australia, New Zealand and much of the United States. She retired from Ramsey County Human Services. Camera always in hand, Pat chronicled her life surrounded by family (including ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren) and many friends through photographs and stories.

Pat is preceded in death by her spouse, parents, stepfather Leonard Halberg, sister Gloria Stovall, sons Jeffrey Katz and Jerome Katz, son-in-law Terry Durland.  She is survived by her children Terrill (Joanne), Vickie (Steve) Polta, Kimberly Durland, LeeAnn (Len) Edstrom, daughter-in-law Vicky Nelson Katz; grandchildren Karen (Elias Anoszko) Katz, Stephen (Stephanie Pinkalla) Katz, Jennifer Polta, Jody Olson, Sarah (Todd) Huebert, Leah Durland, Christine Edstrom, Caitlin (Adrian De La Huerta) Edstrom, Jason (Krissy) Katz, and Tina Medina; great-grandchildren Isabel, Nicolas, Christian, and Maxell Medina, Luke and Lane Olson, Hazel and Pearl Huebert, Harley, Dominic and Luciana De La Huerta Edstrom.

Pat’s family would like to thank the caregivers at Cerenity Marian Center, St. Paul.  Memorials preferred to organizations that support cancer research or veterans causes.   Private visitation and interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
