Richard L. Hyde, age 85 of Cottage Grove, passed away April 21, 2020.

Richard was born April 16, 1935 in Portland, Oregon to Ted and Josephine (Snyder) Hyde.  He graduated from Pendleton High School in 1953 and entered active duty with the US Navy later that year.  He served on the Mine Squadron in the Far East and then stationed in Paris, France for his last 3 years until he was honorably discharged in 1958.  Richard met the love of his life, Joanne Lundin, and the couple were joined in marriage on July 3, 1960 in Mankato.  At first, they resided in California for the first 5 years before returning to Minnesota.  Through the years, Richard did auditing, accounting, data processing, real estate and also income tax preparation with various companies.

Rich loved his family, watching college football, doing jigsaw puzzles and visiting Civil War sites throughout the country.  He and Joanne visited all 50 states as well as took several cruises together.  Rich also love his church, St. Luke in Cottage Grove and appreciated the ministry of Pastor Keith and the members that touched his life.

Rich is survived by his wife of 59 years; sons Darrell (Leanne) and David (Roxanne); grandchildren Jenna, Allyssa, Nathan and Josh; brother Bob and brother-in-law Jon Lundin.

A memorial service was held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Cottage Grove.  To view the service, scroll to the bottom of this page and click play to begin.  A private interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery will take place at a later date.  Memorials may be directed to St. Luke Lutheran Church, The Disabled American Veteran’s or to the donor’s choice.
