Roma Jean Solberg was born on October 15, 1941 in the City of Montevideo, MN, the daughter of Olaf and Gladys Hovda. After six months on home hospice the Lord called her home on September 30, 2020. She was the youngest of three children and grew up on the dairy farm in Maynard, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Luther Faith at Wang Church in Wang Township. Roma graduated from Maynard High School in 1959 and played the flute and twirled baton in the marching band. After high school, she attended Granite Falls Vo-Tech and graduated with a 2-year accounting degree. Roma lived and worked in Montevideo for many years raising her two children Mark and Maria. After they graduated from high school and college, she moved to the Twin Cities.

On May 24, 1990, Roma was united marriage to Bob Solberg and moved to Cottage Grove, MN. They celebrated their 30-year wedding anniversary this year at their home together. Roma loved going to the lake cabin every weekend having friends and family up to enjoy the lake life at Turtle Lake, WI. Roma was the “glue” for the family, hosting many Christmas Eve’s, Easters and Thanksgivings at their home. She loved her dogs, baking cookies and making lefsa as well as playing cards with the grandkids at the cabin. Roma played the choir bells at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Hastings and was active in the Sons of Norway. Roma and Bob enjoyed traveling to Europe and taking tour buses to see the beauty of Canada and America. But her favorite place to travel was the lake cabin. Roma enjoyed life to the fullness-full of love and joy.

Roma’s favorite bible passage is Psalm 23- May her memory be blessed.

She is survived by her husband, Bob; children, Mark Pearson, Maria Michaels, Maria Feldman, Tanya Solberg and Eric (Bree) Solberg; grandchildren, Tony (Yussell) Pearson, Alyssa Michaels, Anna (Brandon) Johnson, Zachary Feldman and Matthew Rutherford; great-grandchild, Odin Pearson; brothers, Clayton (Judy) Hovda and David (Ann) Hovda; brother-in-law, Carl (Diane) Solberg; sister-in-law, Marianne (Lauren) Howard and many other relatives and friends.
